The existing Franklin Institute was built in 1907 by the Benjamin Franklin Foundation to further education of craftsmen. The building is registered as a historic building. The Trustees intended to explore the possibility and applicable code requirements in case they renovate and expand the facility.. The proposed addition would consist of a two story infill of the existing light well over skylights, a new three-story addition adjacent to the existing building, as well addition of new stairs and elevators.. The purpose of the study was to explore the feasibility of the above proposed work.
